Sun Washed Blues

Sun Washed Blues interior

As part of a major redesign of their Manhattan Beach home, our clients wanted to tastefully furnish their newly renovated family room and dining nook. The house, which hadn’t been updated in decades, was dated with old carpet and chipped paint, and long overdue for a makeover. Our signature coastal color palette of blues and neutrals, showcased in a feature magazine spread, inspired them to reach out.

Seeing as this was a budget-conscious project, we remained loyal to the existing footprint while we worked to reimagine the existing finishes. We rejuvenated the brick fireplace in the family room through a few simple but prominent changes: the brick overmantel was removed, fresh paint was applied, and a new wood mantle was accompanied by blue built-in cabinets on either side. A TV, newly mounted directly over the fireplace and between the cabinets, accentuates the family room’s new sense of symmetry.

The custom-designed cabinets and carefully curated furnishings in both rooms foster a sense of openness throughout the home. The wraparound maintenance-friendly porcelain countertop in the kitchen provides a modest touch of grandeur, while the shelves above the sink give our clients a chance to showcase their decorative aesthetic. With new life breathed into it, this home will be a fun and homey sanctuary for years to come.
